Woodrow Lobb

August 11, 1919 — July 2, 2012

Woodrow Thomas Lobb, son of Elijah Thomas Lobb and Evie Thurman Milby Lobb was born August 11, 1919 in Green County. He departed this life Monday, July 2, 2012 at Jane Todd Crawford Memorial Hospital. He was 92 years, 10 months and twenty-one days of age.

Woodrow professed and lived his faith in Christ and was a member of the Summersville Church of the Nazarene where he served as trustee of the church board and dedicated many years of service.

He married Dorothy Marie Milby December 23, 1938. She preceded him in death October 14, 2001 after 63 years of marriage.

To their union were born two daughters Phyllis A. Lobb and Martha L. Stepp. Woodrow is also survived by two granddaughters Teresa Marie Martin and Monica A. Stone, M.D. (her husband Kelly) and three very special people, his great-grandchildren Thomas Stone, Jake Stone, and Lila Grace Stone.

He has two sisters that survive, Frances Dobson and Iola Henderson (and husband Albert).

He was also preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings: Lillie Mae Lobb, Della Lobb, Harold Lobb, Cecil Lobb, Densil Lobb, Maxine Milby, and Charles Booker Lobb.

When Woodrow and Dorothy married, her siblings became as brothers to Woodrow: Floyd Milby, Creed Milby, Ivan Milby and Adrian Milby-all of whom are deceased.

In the nine decades of living, Woodrow has been a World War II Navy Veteran, a farmer, an Indiana Jeff Boat worker, a trucker, an excavator, and owner/operator of the D & W Markette and Service Station/Garage from which he and his wife Dorothy retired after 20 years of operation.

Blessed with good health, they enjoyed many years of retirement together.

Interment In: Green County Memory Garden, Summersville, KY with full military honors.

Milby, Marsha Davis, Reva Nell Root, William Earl Milby, Renea Hancock, Stanford Milby, Sandra Curry, Phillip Cox, Boyce Whitlow, Grady DeWitt, Geneva Chase, Ronnie and Debbie Foley, James and Jennifer Adkins.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the Gideons International, American Cancer Society, America Kidney Foundation, Alzheimer's Association, or American Diabetes Association. These can be made at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home.
