Phillip Despain

Phillip Dale DeSpain, 72, of Campbellsville, KY passed away Thursday, June 15, 2023, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born on March 16, 1951, in Allendale, KY to the late Russell and Eulala Milby DeSpain.

Mr. DeSpain was a member of the Campbellsville Christian Church and the Elkhorn Masonic Lodge #568. Phillip was the former owner and operator of Shively’s Jewelry in Campbellsville before continuing his career as a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer for the former Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home in Campbellsville and most recently with Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia, KY. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family, friends and especially “Dash and Buttons”.

Survivors include his wife Beverly DeSpain of Campbellsville, KY; four children Russell DeSpain (Kelsey) of Canal Winchester, OH, Mackenzie Smith (Kirk) of Danville, KY, Kimberly Mullins of Campbellsville, KY, and Lauren Melton (Luke) of Lebanon, TN; four grandchildren Aidan Bowles, Anne Claire Melton, Annabelle Mullins, and Monroe Melton; three siblings Doris Shofner (Virgil) of Campbellsville, KY, Beverly Judd (Joel) of Cynthiana, KY, and Glenda Tucker (Tommy) of Paducah, KY and several friends and other relatives.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Kristen Larimore.

Funeral services will be 12:00pm central time Monday, June 19, 2023, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Green County Memory Gardens in Summersville, KY. Masonic services conducted by Elkhorn Lodge 568 will be held at 7:00pm Sunday night at the funeral home and the public is welcome to attend.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00-7:00pm central time and will continue Monday morning until the time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.

Bro. Tommy Tucker and Bro. Joel Patton will be officiating, and pallbearers will be Rick Reynolds, Nelson Moore, Richard Phelps, Louis McQueary, Kelin Helm, Jeff Jessie, Carson Jessie and Timothy Priest. Honorary pallbearers will be Lucky Frost and John Asher.
