Carrie Thornton

June 8, 1944 — April 14, 2023

 

Mrs. Carrie Dimple Thornton was born June 8, 1944 to the late Martha Louise Smith and James Ollie Robinson. She Departed this life on Friday April 14, 2023 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville, Ky. She obtained the age of 78 years 10 months and 6 days.

       She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a faithful member, a Prayer Warrior and she served on the Deacon board, until her health failed her. One of Mrs. Carrie’s most beloved pastimes was singing. She used her beautiful voice to glorify the Lord with The Voice’s of FBC, The Durham High Choir and the B & M Ensemble Community Choir.

        Mrs. Carrie attended Durham High School where she was a cheerleader for the Hornets, but graduated at a later date with her GED. She went on to Campbellsville University Where she obtained her degree in Criminal Justice.

         Mrs. Carrie married Udell Thornton who preceded her in death. And a son, Jeffery Lynn Thornton, preceded her in death.

         She leaves to cherish her memories three sons, Dwayne Thornton of Greensburg, Ky; Dale Thornton and Chris Thornton both of Campbellsville, Ky; two daughters Angela Alexander of Phenix City, AL and Karen Brown (Joseph) of McKinney, TX. She is Survived by 13 Grandchildren,  LaTasha Blizzard (Nathan) of Camp Zama, Japan; Cynthia Thornton of Antioch, Tn; Tommy Jermaine Thornton and Erika Thornton Both of Phenix City, AL; Dwayne Thornton Jr., Shatia “Tia” Thornton, Jeremy Hatcher, Shanice Bridgewater, Dayle Dondra Thornton and Austyn Thornton all of Campbellsville, Ky; Dalvian Thornton of Santa Barbara, CA; Breonah Brown and Kaleb Brown,  Both of Mckinney TX. 13 Great Grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; one sister:  Betty Hazard of Campbellsville, KY,  two brothers Jim Smith (Terry) of Aurora, IL; Jerry Smith (Bonita) of Hephzibah,GA; two sisters in-law LouAnn Menefee (Nathaniel) of Fayetteville, NC and Carolyn Thornton Shively (Bert) of Greensburg, Ky.; Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. One sister LouWillie Taylor also preceded her in death.

     Mrs. Carrie was a strong Woman of God with a beautiful soul who truly Loved the Lord. She will be so deeply missed, but her memory is a keepsake from which we will never part.

                                                           11 am Eastern Time Friday, April 21, 2023

Wake:  9 a.m. Eastern Time until the funeral hour at 11 a.m. Eastern Time Friday at the church.

Ministers:  Rev. Melvin Mills, Eulogy and Rev. Gwendolyn Robinson, Mistress of Ceremony

Burial will follow in the Green County Memory Gardens in the Summersville Community of Green County.
