Alma Gunn

Mrs. Alma Francis Catherine “Do” Embry Gunn was born August 10, 1952 in Taylor County, Kentucky to the late Samuel Issac Embry and Robert Pauline Patterson. She departed this life Thursday, November 19, 2020 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. She attained the age of sixty eight years, three months, and nine days.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Lebanon and served as missionary president and senior choir director. She was also a member of the women’s ministry, usher board, and women in white. She worked as the youth director for many years as well. She taught Sunday school, bible school, and recently drove the van for the church youth programs. She was a part of the Red Hat Group and Old Time Rock and Roll Group of Campbellsville. She also loved decorating the church for every occasion. She took pride in making delicious desserts for her church family and wore the prettiest hats. She obtained her associates degree at Lindsey Wilson College and was a social worker at the Christian Care Community, Adanta, and Brass. She was united in marriage to her husband Gilbert Lee Gunn, Sr. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by one stepdaughter: Linda Gunn.

Besides her husband she is survived by two sons: Timothy Embry, Michael Embry and his wife Samantha both of Greensburg; two daughters: Tori Embry and Melissa Embry both of Louisville; nine stepchildren: Franseda Gunn, Gilbert Gunn Jr. and his wife Shelia, Chris Gunn and his wife Lynn, Katie Gunn, Lucy Gunn, Nancy Gunn, Pam Hurringan and her husband Lee, all of Lebanon and Bradley Gunn and his wife Tanja, of Willisburg, John Gunn and his wife Yvonne of New Albany Indiana; three brothers: Roy Dolphus Embry and his wife Naomi, Sam Embry, Jr. all of Greensburg, Jerry Embry of Aurora, Illinois, two sisters: Maryetta Newby and her husband Marvin, Janie Hendricks and her husband James all of Greensburg; nine grandchildren; forty five step grandchildren; forty seven step great-grandchildren; plus a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Alma Francis Catherine “Do” Embry Gunn will be conducted 1 p.m., eastern time, Saturday, November 28, 2020 at the Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Calhoun, Eulogy and Rev. David Mitchell, Master of Ceremony. A walk-through visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., eastern time, Friday and after 7 a.m. Eastern Time Saturday until the funeral hour.  Burial will follow in Green County Memory Gardens.
